A sootlike black fungus coating outdoor surfaces near the Jack Daniel's barrel houses in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Residents of Lincoln County are fed up with the black fungus covering their homes and cars. The stubborn "whiskey fungus" feeds on ethanol vapor from the Jack Daniel's barrel houses. 8. Lemon-lime soda. Steve Cukrov/Shutterstock. Lemon-lime soda like Sprite and vodka are a common pairing, but the light and refreshing drink pairs well with a shot of Jack Daniel's. It's similar to the way a squeeze of lemon or lime will help mellow out a shot, except this version is in cocktail form.
It's also 100 proof, which can be something of an acquired taste. (Jack's mainstay product, Old No. 7, is 80 proof.) A quick search through reviews of those who have actually been able to find a

These smooth mixed drinks are a great way to enjoy this classic bourbon whiskey. History of Jack Daniels. Jack Daniel’s is a brand of Tennessee whiskey and the top-selling American whiskey in the world. It is produced in Lynchburg, Tennessee, by the Jack Daniel Distillery, which has been owned by the Brown–Forman Corporation since 1956.

Jack Daniels is made with a grain mash of corn, rye, and barley, while bourbon is made with at least 51% corn. Additionally, Jack Daniels is known for its signature charcoal mellowing process which adds a unique flavor to the whiskey, while bourbon’s flavor is derived solely from the aging process in the charred oak barrels.

Gentleman Jack gets a secondary filtration after it comes out of the barrel and is on it’s way to being bottled. The purpose is to remove any additional impurities, decrease the oakiness and further mellow and sweeten the whiskey. The result is quite noticeable. Tasted side by side I like the Gentleman a bit more than Old No. 7.
